Jimi Green, the architect of “The Green Machine”, is not your typical handicapper. He has a strong academic background, particularly in mathematics and a love for statistics, probabilities and odds. In college, Jimi read Larry Merchant’s “The National Football Lottery” and began to appreciate and understand the power of the pointspread and how the house truly enjoyed its advantage. Handicapping was a logical next step. 

Of course, every novice gambler fancies himself to be a handicapper and in the beginning, Jimi was no exception. But, over time, Jimi made observations about other bettors and how and why they would lose. He followed services and saw the different scams being perpetrated on an unsuspecting public. He saw Games of the Year and Ten Star specials lose, he saw unscrupulous solicitations for repeat business, like a drug pusher preying on an addict. But he mostly noticed that statistics can lie. Every week some new statistic would be advanced to support a handicapper’s selection. He realized the first key to consistent winning is a consistent method of analysis. For example, if you were to flip a coin 1000 times and pick heads every time, you would probably be right about 50% of the time, but if you sometimes picked heads and sometimes picked tails, you could be wrong all of the time.

Jimi is a contrarian of the highest degree. Other handicappers talk about putting in the time, hour after hour and week after week, because they know there are no shortcuts or systems. This is probably true over the gigantic landscape of sports; however, Jimi put in his time to devise a method, the GREEN MACHINE, that consistently produces a high percentage of winners, by rote. Based upon the 36 year league wide 81% statistic, which we embrace as our cornerstone, Jimi knows that 81% of all teams, including the most fantastic and awful ones, will cover close to 50% of the time, year in and year out, and he has devised a way to capitalize on this phenomenon consistently.

Jimi identified and embraced this one statistic many years ago. He has worked many different systems/ methods/ programs/ formulas of combining this statistic with other factors in various manners, assigning different weights, rules of exclusion and qualification in developing the optimal way to exploit this cornerstone statistic.
