We’re Back!

It’s a brand new season, with lots of player movement and new coaches, making handicapping a challenge as usual.  Fortunately, we have a Green Machine that will synthesize all the information and provide us with winners once again.

Last year was a bit of a disappointment, even though we finished ahead of the needed winning percentage to create a small profit.  We did not hit the 60% winning percentage that we had achieved during the previous 4 years, but our overall winning percentage over the past 5 years, including 2021, still remains 60% or better, both weighted and unweighted.

Last year’s game record (unweighted) through week 16 was 27-23 for a winning percentage of .540.  Last year’s unit record (weighted) through week 16 was 38-34 for a winning percentage of .527.

Although we did not play any games in week 17, keeping with tradition, since that was not the last week in 2021 with the addition of an 18th week and 17th game, we did tweet what the selections would have been.  As it turns out, it would have been good to play week 17 as we would have gone 4-1.  That would have raised the unweighted record to 31-24 (.563) and the weighted record to 42-35 (.545).  Still short of 60%, but not too bad when considering your alternatives. 

This year we will play week 17 and there will be one other change, which does NOT concern the selection criteria in choosing our plays, but will affect the weighting of the selections.  There will be no Monday Morning quarterbacking in terms of selection criteria—the green machine will still do its thing the same way.  However, last year was the first time that the weighted results provided a gain of less units than had all the picks been weighted equally.  So, there will be a minor adjustment in the weighting process, only.

Selections will continue to be tweeted and on instagram weekly in time to place your own action, should you reside in a state where it is legal to do so.  We will do this free of charge for the entire season.  We are doing this for two reasons—we want to put forth a better product, with documented results, before asking for any money from anyone.  All our tweets from 2021 are imbedded in the site and are proof of our 2021 record.  Unfortunately, that was the worst year of the last 5, but you only have my word on the other years.  Since I can’t prove the record from the prior years, I want to be able to show a better track record than 2021.  The other reason, is that here in Florida, where I reside, sports betting remains illegal, although at this time last year, it appeared to be in the works.

So, if all goes well, next year I will be able to demonstrate a more dominant record and Floridians will be able to legally play  next season’s selections.
